Species on the brink/Threatened Habitats - The destruction of habitats spells extinction for millions of species within the lifetime of children being born today. It is estimated that we are losing several species a day through the destruction of tropical rainforests alone. Fewer than 1.5 million of the Earth's estimated 30 million species have been scientifically described. At the present rate of extinction we will know nothing of the vast majority of all species before they become extinct. Conserving tropical rainforests is WWF's highest priority worldwide.
